She leaned her head against his. "Okay.. um.. Wanna learn how to play something basic, like Mary Had a Little Lamb?" She bit her lip as she thought of how she should be mad at him right now, not teaching him how to play piano. She thought about just getting up and leaving.

Lauren practically ran down the stairs and outside, sitting down on the curb, sniffing and barely holding it together. She put a Mayday Parade CD in her walkman with shaky hands and put her headphones on, hugging herself and rocking back and forth, her breath visible in the cold air.

Zane found her outside a little while later, frowning at the sight of her. For a while he stood a good distance behind her, his expression hurt at seeing her in such pain. He debated for a long while if he should talk to her or just go.

She took a breath before standing up, turning around. She froze when she saw Zane, but put her head down, pulled her hood up, and walked right passed him toward the schools front doors.

Lauren bit her lip, feeling the tears coming back. She silently cursed herself and after a moment of hesitation turned around and ran after him, throwing her arms around his waist, nearly making him fall over. She didn't say anything, just gritted her teeth and tears streamed down her face through her tightly shut eyes.

He let out a shaky breath, his arms tight as he pried her hands off of him. Tempted to walk away, he instead turned around to face her, staring down at her with his icy blue eyes. "The way I see it, I have two options," he said. "I can stay with you and help you through this or I can walk out of your life altogether. It's your call, which do I do?"
